How we handle your files and your data

GridDiff receives the two Excel files you upload only to generate the comparison you see on screen. They are written to a temporary folder on the server, processed, and deleted right after — even if the comparison fails with an error, not only when it succeeds. No copies remain anywhere: no database saves them, no backup keeps them, no one but you ever sees them.

This also applies to exports: the annotated .xlsx file you download is generated on the spot and is not kept on our servers after we hand it to you.

We don't read the content of your files for any purpose other than generating the comparison. We don't use them to train models, we don't analyze them for advertising, we don't share them with third parties. No registration is needed to use the free plan, so in most cases we don't even know who you are.

Like any website, our hosting providers (Vercel for the frontend, Render for the comparison engine) automatically log minimal technical request data (e.g. IP address, browser type) for security and service reliability — these are infrastructure logs kept by the providers, not something we link to the content of your files. We also use aggregated, anonymous visit statistics (pages viewed, not visitor identities) to understand how the site is used.

The paid Pro plan isn't active yet — once it is, using it will require an account with an email address and a real payment system (not yet chosen). At that point we will process only the data strictly necessary to manage the subscription (email, payment status), never the content of the files you compare. This page will be updated before that feature goes live.

Since we don't retain your files or, in most cases, any data that identifies you, there is almost nothing to request deletion of — it's already deleted automatically. If something doesn't seem right, or you have a question about how we handle data, write to us.
